Veteran traders with 30 years of experience will tell you a harsh reality: most of the time, this market is just waiting.

It's not about always taking action, nor about getting stuck in one position and holding on tightly. It's about that kind of calm, patient waiting—waiting for the trend to become clear, waiting for risks to be manageable, waiting for the moment when you are truly confident.

Many people fail because they can't sit still. Frequent trading, chasing gains and selling at losses, FOMO when prices rise, panic selling when prices fall. As a result, after a year, the losses from stop-loss orders can't even cover the losses from casual bottom-fishing.

Real trading experts are defined by their patience. Learning to stay silent during volatility, maintaining rationality amid fluctuations. When the opportunity truly arrives, you will already be prepared.

There's nothing wrong with what you said, but there are really too few people who can stay patient. I am one of the worst affected by FOMO. After a year of frequent trading in altcoins, I haven't made any money. I get jealous when I see others making profits, so I chase after them; when prices drop, I cut losses. The conclusion is that all the fees are eaten up by the exchanges. Now I've learned my lesson: just wait. But the waiting process is truly torturous.

ngl the opportunity cost of sitting idle is exactly where most traders get blindsided... they're so obsessed with capital utilization every tick that they miss the actual basis points that matter. patience isn't boring, it's just ungodly efficient.

Well said, but I really can't stay still when it comes to this. I'm the kind of person who just wants to act when I see the market, and I can't stop.

That's right, I'm just waiting now. Not moving a single cent in my hand, waiting for a decent signal to come out. Those who can't sit still really deserve to lose, messing around there every day. I've only traded three times this year, and each time I made a profit. The rest of the time, I just watch the market dance and drink tea. Waiting is the hardest, brother, but it's the only way to survive. Actually, I also feel itchy, but experience tells me it's not the right time yet. Just hold on a little longer. It sounds very right, FOMO kills people, too many friends around me have lost everything because they couldn't sit still. The key is to find that feeling of "calm as still water," easy to say but very hard to do. I've had deep experience with stop-loss orders that can never be recovered once triggered. Wait, wait, wait, is this all there is to trading?
