Recently, I encountered a pretty interesting phenomenon. Someone used 20,000 yuan to make 1,000 yuan and immediately ran away, only for the market to take off afterward. This guy was crying in the comments, saying he "got out early."

This is actually a typical case of small-money mentality causing trouble. You make a little profit and want to run, fearing that the gains will be eaten away, only to watch the coins you sold rise by 40%, 70%, or even double later. Conversely, when the market drops, you become very stubborn, holding on and refusing to sell, only cutting losses when your face turns green. This rhythm of running after a small profit and holding through a big loss is basically the fate of beginners—making small money, losing big money.

I used to be like that myself. When I saw my account increase by 3% or 5%, I’d get itchy. Back then, I also heavily invested in a new coin, which evaporated 80% in just 7 days. That moment made me realize that so-called "dark horses" are actually more like black holes—step in and you're done.

Since then, I changed my approach—only investing in the most dull, boring, and safest assets, which are the mainstream coins that have been beaten down. Many people think this lacks imagination, but I love the feeling of it being as steady as an old dog.

**How do I operate?**

First, I never try to bottom-tick. I always start by testing the waters with a small position. If it really stabilizes, I add more. If not, I treat it as buying a cup of milk tea for it and walk away. You often ask me why I don’t buy at the lowest point. Honestly, there’s only one bottom, but there are many pits. Stepping into the wrong one can make you reflect for half a year. Instead of forcing yourself to buy at the lowest, it’s better to add on dips when the trend comes—even if it’s 5% more expensive. The market rewards those who get the direction right, not those who buy the bottom and suffer angina.

Second, this trick is very counterintuitive but extremely effective—take back your principal after a rally. How exactly? It’s about taking some profit along with the principal and setting it aside, letting the rest grow freely. When it rises, you’re happy; when it falls, you sleep well. Your mindset completely changes.

Over the past few years, I’ve seen too many people get rich quickly, lose everything, or even have their accounts wiped out. But those who can truly make steady money are usually the ones who seem "zen," calm, and only ride big waves. They never chase highs, nor do they fantasize about getting rich overnight. They just stick to their own rhythm.

**Finally, I want to say—**

There’s no mystical indicator for making money in the crypto world, nor can anyone become rich just by calling trades. The core points are: control your mindset, manage risks, and stick to a feasible strategy. Only then can you reduce losses by 90% and live ten more years in the crypto space.

That hits too close to home. I'm the kind of loser who makes a little profit and then runs. Getting my principal back is really a brilliant move. That's what I do now too. Oh my God, I used to be like that too. Getting cut multiple times by chasing gains and selling at losses before I finally understood. I must remember not to guess the bottom. Always dreaming of the lowest point, only to get slapped repeatedly. Being a Zen holder is definitely much better than my previous mentality of watching the market every day. Making small money and losing big money— isn't that a reflection of my life... Mainstream coins are stable. Anyone who says they lack imagination, I get anxious with. Compared to chasing new coins, it's more reliable to just hold Bitcoin and Ethereum honestly.

Hey, isn't this just me? I used to be like this in the early days. I would make a little profit and then jump out, only to regret it later with my guts turned green. I understand the guy who makes 1,000 from 20,000 and then runs, but he's really ruined by a small-money mentality. Honestly, he just hasn't seen the big picture. My current approach is to take out the principal after a wave of gains, and treat the rest as play money. This way, my mindset can really improve a hundredfold. Pure trend followers usually die halfway through; I haven't seen many who come out alive. I now strongly agree with not bottom-fishing. The bottom is something you can't see or touch. Instead of messing around, it's better to wait until the trend is clear before entering. Avoid new coins with black holes; mainstream coins are as steady as an old dog, and that's how they survive the longest. Boring operations are actually the most profitable. Those who shout about getting rich overnight usually end up losing everything.

Isn't this just a modern version of Mr. Nang Guo blowing the Yu? Making a quick profit and running, taking losses and holding on—it's a classic case of psychological account syndrome.

This move to recover principal is really brilliant; your mindset instantly stabilizes, no longer staring at the screen with trembling hands.

That's right, I used to be the type to make a quick profit and then run. Now I prefer to honestly accumulate mainstream coins comfortably. This move of increasing the principal is brilliant, it really helps me sleep better. I deeply understand the black hole theory that this guy mentioned; I completely miss out on new coins I don't favor. I was planning to buy the dip, but now I prefer to wait for the trend to be confirmed before adding more, it's more worry-free. I really admire this "boring" way of making money; it's much more reliable than chasing every rise and fall every day. Dreams of getting rich overnight are better left unthought of. Isn't it better to live steadily? Alright, it's decided. From now on, I will focus on big waves, and I really need to change my small-money mindset.

That's right, but the mindset is too impatient, can't wait Really, I've seen too many people make 1,000 from 20,000 and then run, only to cry bitterly later Once the principal is withdrawn, sleep quality immediately improves, no need to watch the market every day and feel exhausted Wait, which coin is that 80% evaporation in 7 days? Note it down and avoid it in the future Small money mentality is truly the biggest poison in the crypto world, no doubt
