Recently, I’ve seen some investors pouring大量资金 into LP on a certain mainstream DEX, hitting several BNB, dozens of BNB, all for the gimmick of永久分红. Honestly, isn’t this kind of operation a bit irrational?

First of all, you need to understand that LP liquidity mining sounds great—locking assets in exchange for永久分红收益. But in practice, there are many pitfalls. Slippage costs, impermanent loss, token price volatility… all of these can directly eat into your returns. Especially in a market with sharp fluctuations, a sudden crash can instantly shrink your LP position.

The problem is, many people seem to overlook this. They only see the increasing dividends from Cake, BNB, but don’t consider that their principal is shrinking. It’s like earning dividends but your principal drops by 50%—no matter how high the dividends are, it’s pointless.

Of course, long-term holders are a different story. If you believe in the development of a certain DEX ecosystem and are willing to endure short-term volatility, then LP might be a good allocation. But blindly throwing money into it? That’s a bit problematic.

The market’s biggest fear is this "herd mentality"—one person starts playing LP, looks like they’re making money, ten follow suit, a hundred rush in, and eventually the liquidity bubble bursts once it’s poked. I hope everyone truly assesses their risk tolerance and investment cycle before deciding how much to invest in LP.

ngl the impermanent loss math on these lp positions is actually... theoretically exploitable by literally anyone who bothers doing the calc. most aren't.

Another one blinded by dividend numbers, is accounting really that hard? Perpetual dividends sound great, but impermanent losses can deceive you terribly. If the principal drops by half, no matter how many dividends you get, it's useless. How can some people not understand this? The more followers there are, the bubble grows. Don't wait until the day it bursts to regret it.

The dividend looks good, but the principal is gone. Can this account be settled?

Impermanent loss is really a killer; many people jump in without fully calculating it. Permanent dividends sound great, but once the principal drops by 50%, it starts to break your confidence. Following the trend to do LP is just betting that liquidity won't be wiped out, praying you're not the last one holding the bag. Honestly, watching the dividend numbers keep rising rapidly is actually quite superficial. LP mining essentially involves using your principal to gamble on the ecosystem; it's not a stable income. What I fear more is the herd effect suddenly reversing, with liquidity evaporating overnight. Calculating the numbers is very important, but unfortunately most people only look at the profit table and ignore the risk factors. If you really want to do LP, you need to think about how much you can lose, not just how much you want to earn.

It's the same old story of perpetual dividends, I've already fallen for this trap long ago. Impermanent loss is truly brutal, dropping so fast, while dividends increase so slowly. I just laugh when I see them throwing dozens of BNB, just wait and see, everyone. Isn't this just a game of hot potato? Someone's got to take the transfer. How many have actually done the math? All blinded by the returns. Sticking to long-term investments indeed makes money, but most people can't wait that long. Now I only look at the interest, and I no longer care about the principal. I've awakened. The herd effect is so true; rushing in en masse will only lead to disaster. Short-term fluctuations can't be endured at all; just ask those who cut their losses during the crash. Feels like we've hit the point, but still, you have to do your own calculations.
