Are ETH and SOL evolving in different directions? Rob Hadick from Dragonfly recently proposed an interesting perspective — Ethereum and Solana are like two different versions of Facebook, each finding their own track.

From an ecosystem positioning standpoint, the two chains are indeed exploring their respective advantages. One focuses on security and decentralization as the underlying guarantee, while the other emphasizes high throughput and low-cost transaction experiences. As a result, their user groups and application scenarios have become distinctly differentiated.

This parallel development trend is worth noting — the multi-chain coexistence pattern seems to have become the new normal in Web3. Users are no longer concerned with "who is the ultimate winner," but instead choose between different public chains based on their needs. Perhaps, this is a sign of ecosystem maturity.

Well... to put it nicely, it's actually just everyone doing their own thing, no one really wins. The multi-chain era is just to cater to everyone's greed. I just want to ask, why choose? Can't we have it all? Facebook's comparison is a bit off, but I admit everyone has their own way of doing things. The speed of SOL is indeed comfortable, but I still trust ETH's foundation more. It's too early to talk about the endgame; who knows what new chains will pop up next year. In reality, it's all about where the money flows and where users go. The ecosystem isn't mature at all; it's just more ways to cut the leeks. Now hearing this kind of rhetoric so often, both chains are fine, it's a perfect talking point.

The analogy of two different versions of Facebook is brilliant. I was wondering why they have to compete to the death; it's much more comfortable for each to do their own thing. The internet isn't a winner-takes-all arena either. YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram each occupy their own territory, and blockchains should be the same way. Sol's speed is indeed impressive, but ETH's sense of security can't be said to be unwanted... The problem is, when the coin price rises, who still cares about these details? The endgame theory should have gone bankrupt long ago. I'm just waiting for multi-chain coexistence to truly stabilize.

Really, playing with each chain separately is the smart choice, right? ETH is still dithering, while SOL is much more straightforward... but security is still essential. Honestly, the endgame is damn it; just choose the chain that suits you. In the multi-chain era, who still insists on betting on just one? Wake up, everyone.
