Bitcoin is accelerating its transformation from a purely digital asset to a national strategic reserve.

Currently, global governments hold about 520,000 BTC, accounting for 2.5% of the total supply. The United States is leading the way, through executive orders allowing the Treasury to manage seized assets, making it the largest sovereign holder with approximately 325,000 to 328,000 BTC. The Senate's "BITCOIN Act" is even more aggressive—planning to purchase an additional 1 million BTC over the next five years, which would represent about 5% of the total issuance.

But this is not an exclusive game for the US. El Salvador has long designated Bitcoin as legal tender, holding between 7,475 and 7,500 BTC. Bhutan has been mining with a national fund since 2019, accumulating over 15,000 BTC. Brazil's Chamber of Deputies is considering converting up to 5% of its foreign exchange reserves into Bitcoin; Czech Republic announced plans in January to officially include Bitcoin in its central bank's reserves; Switzerland is also preparing for a nationwide referendum to incorporate Bitcoin into its foreign exchange reserves.

An interesting mismatch has emerged on the supply side. Before the 2028 halving, approximately 700,000 new BTC are expected to be mined. However, demand from countries and institutions is projected to exceed 1 million BTC. What is the result? Bitcoin inventories on exchanges have already fallen to 2.5 million BTC. A supply shortage could be imminent.

The event of supply falling short of demand is really happening, and countries are competing for chips.

wait so you're telling me the demand-supply math actually works out here? 100M demanded vs 700k new supply til 2028... theoretically speaking that's a 142% gap we're looking at. actually, let me recalculate — is that even accounting for institutional liquidations or are we just assuming hodlers keep hodling? curious what the risk-adjusted scenarios look like when you factor in volatility swings

Demand exceeds supply just like this, with only 2.5 million coins on the exchange, and countries are still frantically buying up. This script is written so perfectly.

Damn, every government is hoarding coins. This is really going to make them a scarce commodity.

Astronauts, beware, the supply module is about to run out. This launch window has truly arrived. --- The US is loading boosters, and central banks worldwide are lining up to ride the rocket. This is the craziest supply chain crisis I’ve ever seen. --- 700,000 vs 1,000,000, exchange reserves of 2.5 million. After doing the math... the orbit is about to lose weight. --- Bhutan mining, Swiss referendum, Brazil changing reserves—feels like all countries are playing the same game, just waiting to see who ignites the engine first. --- The Senate wants to stockpile 1 million coins? Isn’t that like saying Bitcoin is upgrading from the lunar base to a Mars outpost? --- The issue of supply and demand... is called scarcity premium in a nice way, but in a harsh way, exchanges might be squeezed dry. --- Everyone, this isn’t just a technical signal; this is genuine national-level FOMO with real money. Dopamine is about to explode. --- From confiscated assets to strategic reserves, America’s move is really bold. Now just waiting for other countries to follow suit and push prices higher.
