In the current era of rapid AI development, data storage and privacy protection have become major challenges facing all developers. Centralized cloud services are increasingly unable to handle the impact of massive datasets, autonomous agents, and dynamic media, with systemic risks becoming more prominent. The Walrus protocol was born to address these issues, built on the Sui blockchain as its technological foundation, creating a brand-new distributed storage solution.

Unlike the complexity of Filecoin or the permanent storage concept of Arweave, Walrus has found an alternative path. By using RedStuff encoding technology to split files into fragments and dispersing them across global nodes with only 4 to 5 times redundancy, it ensures near-zero failure availability. From another perspective, the traditional blockchain approach of hundredfold replication is somewhat wasteful; Walrus compresses this logic to the extreme.

The true innovation lies in the concept of "programmable storage." Developers can directly mint Blob metadata and storage capacity as objects on the Sui chain, then use the Move language to endow data with more capabilities—conditional access control, version management, tokenized transactions, and even privacy-preserving computations in encrypted states. This directly addresses the contradictions of the AI era: models require vast amounts of data, but privacy must be protected, and single points of failure avoided. The maturity of the Seal feature enables medical imaging or DeFi strategies to be trained and audited in encrypted form, turning "data sovereignty" from a concept into a practical tool.

By 2025, the mainnet will be launched, and Walrus will have stored hundreds of terabytes of data. By 2026, it will begin to deeply integrate into the Sui ecosystem, collaborating with components like Upload Relay and Quilt to achieve reliable mobile uploads and CDN distribution, at a cost only a fraction of centralized cloud services.

From a market perspective, Walrus is perfectly positioned at the intersection of the two hot trends: decentralized AI infrastructure and sustainable storage. As cross-chain expansion reaches Ethereum and Solana, and when RWA and gaming assets are massively onboarded, Walrus will gradually evolve into an indispensable "data underlying layer" within the ecosystem. In this digital winter, it is accumulating strength, waiting for the opportunities of the next decade.

No hype, no negativity. Walrus's 4 to 5 times redundancy compared to other solutions is indeed solid, just worried that the ecosystem might still be too small. --- Programmable storage has some real potential. I buy into the logic of directly solving privacy issues through encrypted computation. --- Wait, can it really be a fraction of the cost of centralized cloud? What kind of cost model is that? Data will speak for itself. --- The wave of RWA on-chain is coming, and Walrus is truly the real killer. Right now, it's still in the conceptual stage. --- Giving data empowerment through Move language sounds advanced, but will it still be a bunch of bugs waiting to be stepped on when actually used? --- A hundredfold replication is indeed outrageous, but can Walrus's reliability really hold up? The production environment validation isn't sufficient yet. --- It's better to take the step of cross-chain to Ethereum and Solana first; then there will be a real chance. The Sui ecosystem is capable, but the ecosystem size is still there.

Forget it, it's another Sui story... RedStuff encoding sounds awesome, but how does it work in practice? Walrus seems to be trying to steal business from Filecoin and Arweave. 4-5x redundancy definitely saves money compared to a hundredfold replication, but the real question is whether it can run stably. However, programmable storage + Seal is indeed interesting. Performing privacy computations in encrypted state... if this can really be used, DeFi folks might have to turn around. Wait, cross-chain to Ethereum and Solana? Is this signal coming too late? Now everyone is talking about the next decade, and the market is all about AI tokens.

I am a steadfast believer in the Sui ecosystem, but can this thing really deliver? Wait, 4-5 times redundancy and you call it "near-zero failure"? That seems a bit exaggerated... Walrus's "programmable storage" definitely has some substance. I buy into the idea of empowering data with the Move language, but will developers actually use it? It's RWA and gaming assets again. Let's stabilize what we have now before hyping the next ten years, okay? Honestly, if the cost is really just a fraction of centralized cloud, then Web3 might have finally found a killer app this time.

Uh, another player has entered this track. Sui ecosystem really knows how to play --- 4x redundancy, can it handle that? Still feels a bit uncertain, let's see when actually used --- Programmable storage sounds good, but is the Move language ecosystem strong enough? --- Always talking about data sovereignty, but who can truly be protected then? --- 2026 isn't here yet, don't rush to hype up mainnet integration --- Benchmarking Filecoin and Arweave? Quite ambitious, let's talk after it works --- One-fifth of the cost? I've heard that in every project haha --- RWA on-chain will have to wait until the Year of the Monkey and Horse --- Not sure if RedStuff encoding technology is reliable or not --- Many projects are saving strength for winter, but how many will survive until spring

ngl the redstuff encoding thing is lowkey genius, but that 4-5x redundancy narrative? perfect sentiment setup for the next pump cycle tbh
