Here's the thing nobody wants to admit: the goalposts for AGI keep moving. Every time AI crosses a threshold we thought was uniquely human, we quietly shift the definition. What we're really doing is defining AGI as 'whatever AI hasn't conquered yet'—a perpetually receding horizon rather than an actual milestone.

It's less about genuine capability assessment and more about how uncomfortable we get when machines keep proving us wrong.
