OpenAI has confirmed ambitious plans to enter the consumer hardware segment. OpenAI Policy Director, Chris Lehane, stated that the company aims to launch its first hardware in the second half of 2026, marking a significant expansion of their AI business strategy.

After acquiring Jony Ive’s design studio, the company led by Sam Altman began formulating a concrete vision for physical AI products.
