In fact, Epictetus already discovered the principle of "Everything that happens is for my benefit" 50-150 years ago. What happens to you is not important; what matters is your reaction to it. What troubles people is not the events themselves, but their perceptions of those events — many things in the objective world are beyond our control, but how we interpret these things is our freedom. I only understood this after reading some books on Buddhism and Taoism. — GN
