# The Gemini Audience Reaches 750 Million and Closely Approaches ChatGPT Metrics
The number of monthly active users (MAU) of Google’s Gemini chatbot has exceeded 750 million, according to data from the Q4 2025 report.
The product is demonstrating rapid growth: a quarter earlier, the company reported 650 million MAU. In comparison, Meta AI’s similar figure is 500 million.
Despite the rapid growth, Gemini still lags behind its main competitor — ChatGPT’s audience reached 810 million users.
The statistics were published shortly after the launch of Gemini 3 — the leading AI model that showed high performance in tests. Google CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized that the implementation of neural networks has positively impacted the company’s growth, and ongoing investments allow maintaining the pace.
In September, Google launched an affordable Google AI Plus plan in more than 40 countries, including Ukraine, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Egypt. It is expected that the budget subscription will attract a less affluent audience and accelerate the further spread of the product.
Aggressive Development
Gemini’s success has become a key driver of Alphabet’s record-breaking figures — the company’s annual revenue has exceeded $400 billion for the first time. The company attributes the growth to AI development and plans to aggressively increase investments in this area.
For 2026, the corporation has allocated capital expenditures (CAPEX) in the range of $175–185 billion. The upper limit of the forecast more than doubles last year’s expenses.
In October, Alphabet announced that it expects a “significant increase” in expenses in 2026, but the figure announced on February 4 exceeded the figures of other tech giants. For comparison: Microsoft did not disclose an annual forecast but promised a “steady reduction” in costs after $37.5 billion in the previous quarter. Meta plans to spend between $115 billion and $135 billion in 2026.
Wall Street is cautiously watching the budget race, fearing a bubble in the industry. In early November, HSBC CEO Georges Elhedery warned that current AI company revenues may not justify the huge computing costs.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai noted that no company is immune from a potential AI market crash. He said that there are signs of “irrationality” in the current hype.
Recall that a leak of documents shed light on OpenAI’s financial situation and confirmed skeptics’ concerns — the company may still be spending more on inference than it earns.
