Poor little monkey, a heartwarming story

At the Chiba City Zoo in Japan, a newborn Japanese macaque named Punch was abandoned by his mother and came into the world all alone.
The zookeeper found him an IKEA orange gorilla plush toy, Oran-Mama. Punch clung tightly to it, holding on as if it were a lifeline.
In January 2026, he was reintroduced to the monkey group. At first, adult monkeys threatened, dragged, and excluded him. He curled up holding his toy in a corner. The video of this went viral, heartbreaking viewers everywhere. People flooded social media with "Go Punch."
Gradually, a miracle happened: some monkeys started grooming him, playing together, and hugging him. He finally integrated into the family, happily running around the monkey mountain while holding his toy.
This little guy, abandoned but resiliently embracing companionship, warmed the hearts of the entire world. His favorite red-haired orangutan toy is now sold out at IKEA.
