Gridware study: Grid-monitoring technology sharply cuts wildfire ignitions, outages
A new study by Gridware and UC Berkeley reveals that Gridware’s Active Grid Response (AGR) technology significantly reduces wildfire ignitions and improves electric reliability, particularly in high fire-risk zones. Analyzing four years of data from PG&E, the study found AGR cut ignitions by nearly half in some conditions and shortened outage durations by a median of 16 percent. The technology also demonstrates strong economic returns for utilities, highlighting its potential broader application beyond wildfire mitigation to combat storm-related outages.
