U.S. President Donald Trump misinterpreted Iran's willingness to de-escalate in the Middle East, thereby undermining Tehran's resolve to ease the conflict, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in a declaration published on his X account.

"The readiness of President [Iran's Masoud] Pesheskiyan to de-escalate in our region—provided that the airspace, territory, and waters of our neighbors are not used to attack the Iranian people—was almost instantly undermined by President Trump's incorrect interpretation of our capabilities, resolve, and intentions," the minister wrote.

He added that if Trump seeks escalation with Iran, "that is exactly what he will get."
