Chenzhou Police in Hunan Seize 310 Grams of Fraudulent Gold, Uncovering a New Investment Scam of "Two Golds for Cash"

According to TechFlow news, on March 29, the police in Chenzhou, Hunan recently intercepted 7 suspicious packages at a courier transfer station, seizing 310 grams of gold. The gold was hidden in everyday items such as ketchup and lotion, and the victims involved were all trapped in the same scam.

Investigations show that the criminals used a combination method of “emotional connection + fake investment platform” to carry out the fraud: first, they established emotional trust through dating apps, and then lured victims into purchasing gold under the pretense of insider investment, which was then mailed to a designated address. The so-called investment platforms were all fabricated, and the profit data on the platforms could be arbitrarily manipulated from the backend. After the victims’ funds were picked up by “runners,” they were repeatedly circulated through methods such as cryptocurrency exchanges and overseas account transfers, ultimately flowing into foreign scam groups.

The police have classified the above methods as a new type of investment fraud known as “two golds for cash,” and they remind the public to be highly vigilant against any investment recommendations that use high returns as bait. Currently, the seized gold is being gradually returned to the victims, and the case is still under further investigation.
