First, from a global economic perspective, Iran’s geopolitical position is very important. Energy trade passing through the Persian Gulf and especially the Strait of Hormuz is a significant part of the world’s oil supply. Disruptions to this route during military conflict events can cause sudden and sharp increases in oil and natural gas prices. These rising energy costs will trigger cost inflation across many sectors, especially industrial production, and will increase inflationary pressure globally.
