Bond investors want to know if the U.S. government is ready to balance its budget.

Jin10 reported on May 20 that Aberdeen’s investment director Matthew Amis said one relevant issue facing the market is whether the U.S. government is willing to make difficult decisions to begin the tough process of balancing its budget. The market does not need credit agencies to inform the U.S. that there is a debt problem. With the easing of the trade war, tariffs will not be a significant factor for revenue increases. Furthermore, the progress of Trump’s tax bill this weekend indicates that U.S. debt is heading in a certain direction, but not the direction the market desires.
