U.S. Vice President Vance: The Trump administration will "fire" anti-encryption regulators.
Gate News bot message: U.S. Vice President Vance urges action on digital asset regulation, warning that without it, trillions of dollars could flow overseas, and the resistance faced by lawmakers partly stems from President Trump’s ties to Crypto Assets.
Vans spoke at the Bitcoin 2025 conference held in Las Vegas on Wednesday, stating that there is a need for a market structure bill that does not restrict Crypto Assets to “ensure that Crypto Assets become a part of the mainstream economy.”
Vance said, “If we can’t establish a clear regulatory framework now, we risk pushing this $3 trillion industry overseas to seek more friendly jurisdictions, and President Trump will do everything in his power to ensure that doesn’t happen. Just think, by creating smart, innovation-friendly rules, we can also ensure that Democrats or anyone else will never wage war on the Crypto Assets community again.”
Wans vowed on Wednesday that the Trump administration would fire regulators such as former SEC Chairman Gary Gensler. The president can dismiss heads of federal agencies, but there are some restrictions. According to NBC News, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled last week in a temporary decision that the Trump administration could fire members of independent federal agencies, suggesting that this does not apply to the Federal Reserve.
Gensler resigned before Trump’s inauguration this January. The new chairman of the SEC appointed by Trump, Paul Atkins, stated that he plans to take a new approach to regulating the agency’s Crypto Assets.
“Perhaps the most important thing we can do for this community is to reject regulators, fire Gary Gensler, and we will also fire everyone like him,” Vance said on Wednesday.
Vance also briefly mentioned the Bitcoin he holds. According to previously submitted financial disclosure documents, Vance held at least $500,000 worth of Bitcoin before taking office, “I still hold a considerable amount of Bitcoin.”
