Official: Some enriched uranium in Iran survived U.S.-Israeli airstrikes
On July 11, Jin10 reported that, according to The New York Times, a senior Israeli official revealed that Israel assesses that some of the weapons-grade enriched uranium stored underground in Iran was preserved during last month’s joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes, and this nuclear material may still be available for Iranian nuclear engineers. The anonymous official stated that Israel had detected signs of Iran secretly accelerating its nuclear weapons development as early as the end of last year and began preparing military actions based on this. Reports indicate that shortly after the Israeli Air Force killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, intelligence agencies detected Iranian nuclear weapons activities. This discovery prompted Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to start formulating an “independent action” plan. Notably, during the period in mid-June when Israel attacked Iran and Trump decided to join the operation, U.S. intelligence officials stated that no evidence of Iran weaponizing enriched uranium had been found.
