Abstract generation in progress

Jin10 Data, August 27 - According to the Wall Street Journal, after reports emerged about users seeking help from chatbots during emotional breakdowns, ChatGPT’s manufacturer OpenAI announced it would improve its product to better identify and respond to users’ psychological and emotional distress signals. OpenAI published a blog post stating, “In several recent heartbreaking cases, users have turned to ChatGPT while in a state of extreme distress, which weighs heavily on us, and we believe it’s necessary to share more information now.” OpenAI stated that the upcoming updates will help users return to reality, even if they do not show severe self-harm signs. The company is also exploring ways to help users connect with mental health professionals before they fall into a severe crisis. This marks a significant departure from the current model’s operation: when someone expresses a desire for self-harm, the chatbot suggests they contact a suicide hotline.
