"Trillions of dollars" in funds may flow into XRP? Analysts say SEC's new regulations will change the game.

Crypto assets analyst Levi Rietveld predicts that the upcoming new framework for crypto asset listings from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which could reach "several trillion dollars" in scale, will open the floodgates of institutional capital for blockchain networks like Ripple (XRP). He believes this will be a critical turning point for mainstream finance to fully enter the blockchain space.

SEC new regulations will reshape the Crypto Assets market

Rietveld posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the digital asset regulatory reforms being pushed by the SEC will allow traditional banks and asset management companies to directly participate in ICOs, IDOs, and large token sales on networks such as Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and the XRP Ledger.

This framework will simplify the ETF approval process through universal listing standards, and the application of Rule 19b-4 will allow spot crypto ETFs to be approved without case-by-case review, significantly shortening the time to market.

Unique Advantages of XRP

Among many altcoins, XRP is considered one of the biggest beneficiaries. In August 2025, Ripple reached a settlement with the SEC, which confirmed that the XRP sold on exchanges does not constitute a security, eliminating legal barriers for institutional investment.

Ripple's On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) platform processed approximately $1.3 trillion in cross-border payments in the second quarter of 2025, demonstrating the massive transaction volume of XRP in real-world applications. In addition, the RLUSD stablecoin launched by Ripple is custodied by BNY Mellon, providing a new entry point for institutional funds into the XRP ecosystem.

ETF Wave and Capital Inflow Prospects

As of September 2025, more than 11 asset management companies in the United States have submitted applications for XRP spot ETFs to the SEC. If the new regulations are implemented and approved, XRP will open up retail and institutional investment channels in the U.S. like Bitcoin and Ethereum, enhancing liquidity and reducing volatility.

Rietveld believes that this will bring unprecedented capital inflows to XRP, potentially amounting to "trillions of dollars."

Risk and Market Watch

Despite the optimistic outlook, the current price of XRP is about $2.83, with a market capitalization of $169 billion, which has not yet reflected the scenario of massive capital inflows. The market is closely watching the SEC's final ruling on ETF applications (expected between October and November 2025) as well as the progress of Ripple's application for a banking license.

If the approval is delayed, institutional funds may temporarily wait and see, resulting in short-term market reactions not meeting expectations.

Conclusion

The SEC's new rules are seen as a significant institutional breakthrough for the crypto market, potentially altering the capital structure of XRP and other mainstream crypto assets. If the spot XRP ETF is approved, combined with Ripple's layout in the cross-border payments and stablecoin sectors, XRP may witness historic capital inflows.
