International Energy Agency: At present, the power required for artificial intelligence accounts for a very small proportion of global electricity demand
Laura Cozzi, Director of Sustainability, Technology and Outlook at the International Energy Agency, said that at present, the electricity used by artificial intelligence accounts for only a small proportion of global electricity demand, about 1.5% of global electricity demand. There is still a great deal of uncertainty about how this number will evolve in the future. By 2035, the electricity demand of artificial intelligence will account for a few percentage points of the overall huge rise in electricity demand.
