The Japanese government has launched a preparation room for the establishment of the Disaster Prevention Agency

This is one of Prime Minister Shizuo Shigeru’s signature policies, striving to establish the Disaster Management Department within the 2026 fiscal year. Shizuo, who attended the unveiling ceremony, mentioned the economic measures to be summarized within this month, and stated that local revitalization funds will be delivered to support local governments that have a positive willingness to disaster prevention. Shizuo also mentioned considering establishing a new mechanism to support volunteer activities, emphasizing that relevant measures will be promoted before the establishment of the Disaster Management Department.
