Golden Finance reported that Hester Peirce, a member of the U.S. SEC, said in a virtual speech at a Federalist Society panel today that it is “too early” for the SEC to begin developing a cryptocurrency regulatory agenda without the approval of the chairman responsible for the Senate. Currently, Mark Uyeda has taken over as acting chairman, but the Senate is expected to vote soon on the nomination of former SEC commissioner Paul Atkins as chairman. Hester Peirce said, “Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda has done an excellent job and the agenda has been effective - we have not stopped working, but we anticipate that if Paul Atkins is confirmed as chairman, he will soon take office and begin crafting an agenda.” Peirce added that the SEC is “trying to figure out” the way forward for developing digital asset rules.
