🟢2 HUGE reasons longer duration option contracts (1+ year) are better than short duration contacts (1 month)
1. The number one thing that moves the price of a stock in the long term is what the EPS does. If you give a company 1 month to "boost EPS" they can't do it. If you give them 1 or 2 years, they likely can. So buying a good company at a good price & giving them time to boost EPS will likely result in a higher share price in 1 or 2 years. (Also why selling longer duration portfolio secured puts is a MAJOR HACK!)

Not the Fibonacci.
Not the BB.
Not the SMA.
Not the Vwap.
Stop complicating it.
Buy good companies at good prices and be patient.

🔴Selling covered calls is the most popular herd mentality "options strategy" on earth.
Let me explain.
Covered calls means you own the shares, that's what makes it covered.
If you own the shares, you are bullish right?
Hope so!
So what does selling calls actually mean?
Well, you are agreeing to sell your shares at a certain price in a certain timeframe.
Sounds good right?
You get to sell your shares for a profit and collect the premium.
In theory, sure.
But in the real world, there is a MAJOR problem.

For 95%+ of retail investors:
- Day trading still doesn't work.
- Swing trading still doesn't work.
- Cash secured puts still suck.
- Covered calls still suck.
- Spreads still suck.
The problem for retail "investors"?
They will continue to do the same thing & expect a different result.
Me?
- I will continue to build my base portfolio
- Sell portfolio secured puts (not cash secured)
- Buy leap calls when it makes sense
- Keep ratios in check
- Do all 1+ year option contracts
- Continue to capitalize in volatility
- Be patient & outperform 95% of all retail investors in the long

🔴UNPOPULAR OPINION:
1 out of 1,000 day traders are successful.
Yes, there are edge case situations
Yes, there are some 1 hit wonders.
Yes, some got lucky.
But in the long term, most will not make it.
Understand that.
Ask your "mentor" where are their millions?
They prob don't have it.
& if they do, it's likely from what you pay them to be in their discord, not their investments...

🔴I relate day traders to people that are "professional slot machine players"
Yes, there will be an edge case where someone does well for a period of time, but Vegas was not built on winners...
95% of day traders will unfortunately fail.
Short term stock moves are mostly unpredictable.
I simply use them as opportunity to capitalize on longer duration movements.
Patience wins with investing.
People that need instant gratification are often the ones that never scale to 7 figures & beyond.

🔴You can spend an entire lifetime "getting rich" but it only takes 1 bad investment to wipe you out...
Never put yourself in the situation where that can happen.
The market is hard to predict in the short term.
If you're in the game long enough, crazy things out of left field will happen.
Don't complicate it.
Don't over leverage.
Don't follow the herd.
Know what you own & why you own it.

🟢WHAT REALLY MOVES THE PRICES OF OPTIONS CONTRACTS:
(it's not just the share price)
1. Share Price.
2. Sentiment.
3. Volatility.
4. Demand for the contract.
5. Duration.
6. Strike.
Use this to your advantage.

🔴MAJOR problem with retail investors that have a day job.
(Many screw this up)
Most retail investors have a day job. Yes.
So, if you wanna make more money at your day job, what do you do?
- Pick up OT.
- Work harder.
RIGHT!
So they carry that logic to the investing world.
They correlate more work = more money
They correlate more trades = more money.
(couldn't be further from the truth)
This is why 95%+ of ppl underperform the SP500 in the long term... No surprise...
Instead, do this to beat the market in the long term:
- Build base portfolio.
- Sell portfolio secured puts (not cash secured)

🟢Sometimes, the best move to make in the stock market is to DO NOTHING.
Every headline doesn't need to be reacted to.
Every dip doesn't justify being bought.
Every pump doesn't justify to sell.
Sometimes you just need to sit and wait.
This is one of the hardest things for most retail investors to do.
Don't fall victim.

1. Must be below intrinsic value.

5. I must be ok to hold for the long run in the event I get assigned shares, I can use the wheel strategy and patiently "get rid" of the shares if I want.

So when I sell portfolio secured puts and collect say $20k for example, I take that cash flow and buy $20k in shares of the company I am bullish on. (same one I am selling puts on)
I usually sell 1 year cont

🟢Keep your emotions in check.
Continue to DCA into quality stocks/ETFs at good prices.
When you find compelling set ups:
1. Sell 1+ year portfolio secured puts. (not CSP)
2. Take part of that cash flow to buy shares.
3. Take part of the cash flow to buy LEAP calls.
Then be patient and let the plays work.
Simple.

I'll never criticize the new investor making $50/month selling options...
Unless they do covered calls or cash secured puts...
Then I will.
(those strategies are a trap)
Most new investors fall victim to this because it's viewed by the herd as "safe" and "low capital"
But in reality, it's a way to cap upside on a bullish company (covered call) & a way to sit on a bunch of cash when you are bullish on a company (cash secured put)
I haven't met a single person that made millions selling CCs or CSPs...
But I have personally made millions selling portfolio secured puts, not cash secured.
