Tether đã đóng băng hơn nửa tỷ USD tài sản số theo yêu cầu của cơ quan chức năng Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ, trong khuôn khổ cuộc điều tra mạng lưới cá cược trực tuyến trái phép và rửa tiền. Công tố viên Istanbul trước đó tịch thu khoảng 460 triệu euro (544 triệu USD) tài sản của Veysel Sahin; sau đó xác nhận công ty crypto liên quan là Tether — đơn vị phát hành stablecoin USDt.
Đại diện Tether cho biết công ty hành động dựa trên thông tin từ cơ quan thực thi pháp luật và tuân thủ quy định tại các quốc gia, tương tự các cuộc phối hợp với DOJ hay FBI. Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ đã thu giữ hơn 1 tỷ USD tài sản từ các cuộc điều tra liên quan.
Đến cuối 2025, Tether và Circle đã đưa khoảng 5.700 ví vào danh sách đen, chứa khoảng 2,5 tỷ USD, trong đó phần lớn là USDT. Tether cũng cho biết đã hỗ trợ hơn 1.800 cuộc điều tra tại 62 quốc gia, dẫn đến 3,4 tỷ USD USDT bị đóng băng. Dù hợp tác với nhà chức trách, USDt vẫn bị giám sát do từng liên quan các vụ rửa tiền và né tránh trừng phạt.
Trong quý IV/2025, vốn hóa USDt đạt kỷ lục khoảng 187,3 tỷ USD, số ví hoạt động hàng tháng lên 24,8 triệu và khối lượng chuyển khoản theo quý đạt 4,4 nghìn tỷ USD, lập mức cao mới onchain.
