知名通訊軟體 Discord 在台灣時間今日（2/11）凌晨發文，正面回應年齡驗證政策的爭議，企圖平息用戶的疑慮。
Discord 強調，絕大多數用戶無需進行臉部掃描或上傳政府身分證件，即可繼續照常使用平台。系統將利用現有的帳號行為模式與訊號建立「年齡預測」模型，以高信心水準判斷用戶是否為成年人。
這代表，多數成年人用戶無須經過顯性的年齡檢查，就能使用相應的功能。只有在系統無法確定用戶年齡的情況下，才會要求使用者透過第三方合作夥伴完成額外的驗證程序。

Discord三月推行新制，替代平台搜尋量暴增
Discord 的全球年齡驗證政策將於今年三月正式上路，屆時用戶僅在嘗試進入限制 18 歲以上觀看的伺服器與頻道，或是修改特定安全設定時，才會被要求進行驗證。
這項政策在社群上引發強烈反彈，導致尋找替代方案的用戶數量激增。《Windows Central》的報導指出，最近 48 小時內，在 Google 搜尋「Discord 替代品」搜尋熱度，與上個月相比暴增超過 10,000%，顯示出用戶對於新政策的擔憂與不滿。

社群監管成全球趨勢，Telegram執行長示警
綜觀這幾年，社群平台的年齡驗證機制正逐漸成為全球趨勢。
通訊軟體 Telegram 執行長 Pavel Durov 曾公開批評西班牙監管機構，認為禁止青少年使用社群平台而延伸的年齡驗證政策，正在推動危險的新法規，恐將威脅網路自由。
**電子前哨基金會（EFF）也指出，年齡驗證政策已從邊緣的政策實驗，轉變為橫跨美國的普遍現實。**澳洲政府甚至在去年底曾嘗試立法禁止 16 歲以下青少年使用社群平台，然而根據《BBC》實際採訪報導可知，當地施政成效有限，因為年輕人很快就找到可以繞過規定的方式。

雖然社群平台監管成趨勢，但 Discord 全球產品政策負責人 Savannah Badalich 對《Decrypt》媒體透露，他們的政策與特定的法律要求無關，而是為了青少年安全與福祉所做出的主動承諾。
然而，隱私倡議團體對該說法抱持保留態度，認為這要求用戶在無法獨立查核的情況下信任科技公司。
非營利組織電子隱私資訊中心（EPIC）顧問 Suzanne Bernstein 指出，許多公司已經掌握大量使用者資訊，要求使用者信任往往是一種假性的選擇，這反映出使用者在想要使用網路服務時，對於自身隱私資訊，其實缺乏足夠的掌控權。
