Israeli Defense Forces reservists indicted for betting on Polymarket using military insider information

ChainCatcher reports that, according to The Block, Israeli prosecutors have filed charges against an Israeli Defense Forces reservist and a civilian, accusing them of using military intelligence to place bets on the blockchain-based prediction market platform Polymarket.

Prosecutors allege that the reservist obtained sensitive operational intelligence through his military position and shared this information with the civilian, who then used it to bet on events related to military operations on Polymarket.

The Tel Aviv District Court, at the request of the National Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Department, has lifted the injunction. The suspects were arrested during a joint operation involving the Israel Internal Security Agency, police, and the Defense Ministry Security Investigation Department. Both defendants are charged with serious security-related crimes, bribery, and obstruction of justice.
